No More Diaper

This past weekend Monster hit a new milestone – removing his diaper. Yippee! P and I were in the living room watching Monster run around. He dashed into the kitchen and a minute later we hear him squealing in delight. Next thing you know, Monster is running back out of the kitchen, triumphantly holding his BumGenius 4.0 diaper with aplix closure in one hand. He had the biggest smile on his face – he was so pleased with himself!

Later that day, in what I can only describe as a karmic moment, I discovered that Monster had peed on the kitchen floor while he was sans diaper. How is karma involved, you ask? I only discovered it after Monster slipped and fell in it. Being a parent is awesome!

Thankfully he still hasn’t figured out how to undress himself yet, although it isn’t for lack of trying. If I dress him in a loose-fitting (2T or larger) t-shirt he has figured out how to get it over his head, but he hasn’t managed to free his arms yet. Luckily he hasn’t attempted to remove his pants yet, so I’m hoping to avoid another diaper free moment for a while by putting Monster’s pants back on as soon as I’m done changing his diaper.

This is what Monster looks like when he tries to undress himself

In other news, I really need to seriously start looking into potty training Monster.

    • Yes, I know a couple parents who have potty-trained their kids from birth. Very impressive, although it seems pretty labor intensive. P and I have discussed it before and he’s certain it’s one of the weirdest things he’s ever heard, so it might be a tough sell with him.
